The BRICS Forum on Partnership on New Industrial Revolution 2024 was held on September 10-11 in Xiamen, Fujian Province. The Forum was co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People’s Government of Fujian Province. Zhang Xiaoyan, the Vice President of the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID) attended the Forum and released the cooperation outcomes of the Global Development Initiative Partnership for New Industrial Revolution Network.

The Global Development Initiative Partnership for New Industrial Revolution Network (hereinafter referred to as the “GDI-PartNIR Network”) was initiated and established by China in April 2023 in implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI). It aims to strengthen cooperation in the fields of industrialization and digitization, and promote a stronger, greener, and healthier global development. CCID is one of the founding members of the GDI-PartNIR Network. According to Ms. Zhang, with the support and participation of all parties, the Network has witnessed steady progress and increasing influence after having been established over a year ago. In terms of partnership expansion, on the basis of the first batch of 88 members, another 23 new members from 7 countries, including Brazil, Cuba, Peru, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary and China, joined the network, bringing the total number of members to 111 that cover 19 countries. In terms of the Network’s activities, a web portal was launched and cases of members’ industrial policies and practices were complied and released on the website; the Network brought together prestigious think tanks in ASEAN, the EU and the Middle East region to develop intellectual cooperation outcomes; multiple discussions and dialogues were organized between the Network’s members and business associations in various countries to foster communication; and efforts were also made to promote industrial connection with countries in Asia and Latin America to build a new ecosystem for industrial cooperation.
In the next step, the Network’s focus will be building a future-oriented, innovative, inclusive and development-oriented partnership for global new industrial revolution, including by promoting sharing of information through joint research, promoting joint development through empowering exchanges, and promoting win-win outcomes through industrial development. Ms. Zhang also welcomed more partners to join the Network and embrace a new journey for industrial development.
The forum also included a joining ceremony for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization’s Global Alliance on AI for Industry&Manufacturing. CCID officially joined the alliance together with other 12 Chinese organizations.
