On October 23-24, 2024, the second edition of the Multilateral Industrial Policy Forum of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The China Center for Information Industry Development(CCID)was invited to participate in the Forum, where Zhang Xiaoyan, the Vice President of CCID spoke at the high-level roundtable on “Energy Transition and Industry Transformation”. She shared China’s industrial green development practices and achievements, and exchanged ideas with other panelists, including Khalid Saleh Al-Mudaife, Vice-Minister for Mining Affairs, KSA, and Artem Asatur, Co-Chairman of the Russian Aluminium Association.

As one of the side-events of the Forum, CCID successfully organized the Roundtable on Global Development Initiative Partnership for New Industrial Revolution. Li Wei, Deputy Director General of the Department of Policies, Laws and Regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT), and Ana Paula Nishio de Sousa, Chief of the Division of Digital Transformation and AI Strategies of UNIDO, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
Ms. Zhang chaired the roundtable and delivered a keynote speech on “A Joint Contribution to GDI Implementation, A Shared Endeavour for PartNIR Development”. At the roundtable, Long Fei, Director of the Institute of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of CCID, and Huang Xiaodan, Researcher of the Institute of Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection(Industry and Information Technology Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Research Center) released Chinese and English reports on “Digital Transformation of SMEs in China: Practice and Experience” and “Green Development of China’s Industrial Sector: Practice and Achievements” respectively.

UNIDO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that aims to promote sustainable industrial development in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. Xiong Jijun, Vice Minister of the MIIT, and other ministerial-level officials from Russia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bhutan, Sudan, Bahrain and Oman attended the MIPF forum. Nearly 1,000 delegates from governments, industry and the private sector also participated in the forum.
