The Third Make it in the Emirates Forum was held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on May 27 and 28. The forum, themed “Invest, Innovate, Grow”, brought together nearly a thousand government representatives, experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs from dozens of countries including the UAE, China, the United States, France, Belgium, and Austria. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech. Ms. Zhang Xiaoyan, Vice President of China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID), attended the forum on invitation and engaged in extensive discussions on manufacturing transformation and upgrading, as well as the mutually beneficial industrial cooperation between China and the UAE.

In the panel discussion - Multi-OEM collaboration in mobility, Ms. Zhang stated that the Chinese government strongly supports the development of intelligent and connected vehicles (ICVs) as it innovatively integrates vehicles, roads, big data, and cloud computing technologies into a holistic system, to explore a vehicle-road-cloud integration solution based on vehicle intelligence and network empowerment, and integrate smart vehicles with smart transportation, cities, and energy, which, she said, aims to drive smart vehicles on smart roads for better smart mobility. She also said that the UAE places great importance on developing its manufacturing industry and promotes intelligent and green transformation of the manufacturing industry, and that as this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE, CCID, as a renowned think tank in China’s industrial and information technology sectors, would like to strengthen full-spectrum exchanges and cooperation with its UAE counterparts in industry research, application and promotion, standard development, ecosystem collaboration, etc., with a focus on manufacturing transformation and upgrading, as well as smart mobility.

The forum was jointly hosted by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. During the forum, Ms. Zhang held talks with Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, where they discussed topics such as China-UAE manufacturing cooperation and the development of the Network for the Partnership on New Industrial Revolution under the Framework of the Global Development Initiative.

During their stay in the UAE, the delegation also visited TRENDS Research & Advisory, a well-known think tank in the UAE, where they reached a broad consensus on enhancing bilateral exchanges and cooperation, as well as visited Chinese enterprises in the UAE, including Alibaba Cloud and China Communications Services Corporation UAE Office.
