October 23-24, the second edition of Multilateral Industrial Policy Forum was held by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID) was invited to attend the meeting. Vice President Zhang Xiaoyan spoke at the high-level roundtable on “Energy Transition and Industry Transformation”, sharing China's practices and achievements in green industrial development, and exchanged views with Khaled Almudaifer, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mining of Saudi Arabia, and Artem Asatur, Vice President of the Russian Aluminum Association.

CCID successfully hosted the “Global Development Initiative New Industrial Revolution Partnership Roundtable”. Li Wei, Deputy Director of the Industrial Policy and Regulations Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, and Ana Paula Nishio de Sousa, Director of the Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence Division of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.


Zhang Xiaoyan moderated the roundtable and delivered a keynote speech on “jointly implementing global development initiatives and promoting the building of partnerships for the new industrial revolution”. Abdullah Al-Meleihi, President of Saudi Skytower Investment Company, Stephen Scalet of Trends Advisory and Research Center, and Yang Fan, Vice President of International Business at China's Sangfor Technologies, discussed industrial digitalization and green transformation. Long Fei, Director of the Institute of Small and Medium Enterprises at CCID, and Huang Xiaodan, Researcher at the Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Research Institute (Center for Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Research, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology), released the bilingual reports “Digital Transformation of SMEs in China: Practice and Experience” and “Green Development of China's Industrial Sector: Practice and Achievements” respectively.
Representatives of government departments and enterprises worldwide such as the Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Ministry of Commerce, the Saudi National Industrial Development Center, the Saudi Telecom Company, the Nandan Group, Huawei, Ali, China Communications Services, Liugong, TCL, and representatives of business associations such as the Saudi-Chinese Business Council and the Chinese Business Club in Saudi attended the meeting. At the meeting, Sky Tower Investments and the Saudi-Chinese Business Council joined the GDI-PartNIR Network as new members.


The UNIDO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that aims to promote sustainable industrial development in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China Xiong Jijun and ministerial officials from Russia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bhutan, Sudan, Bahrain, Oman and other countries attended. Nearly 1,000 representatives from governments, industrial sectors and civil societies attended the conference.
