The High-level Seminar on Industrial Cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean Countries held in Beijing

On April 1, 2025, the International Cooperation Sub-forum of the 2025 CCID Forum and the High-level Seminar on Industrial Cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean Countries was held in Beijing. The seminar was themed "Seizing the Opportunities of the New Industrial Revolution and Promoting Practical Industrial Cooperation between China and Latin America and the Caribbean". Thirty-two diplomatic envoys (including 12 ambassadors) from 18 Latin American and Caribbean countries and representatives from their industrial departments attended the event. The seminar was chaired by Zhang Xiaoyan, vice president of China Center for Information Industry Development. Opening remarks were delivered by Xie Shaofeng, chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Zhang Run, director of the Department of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gao Wang, Ambassador of Brazil to China, Sergio Caballero, Ambassador of Colombia to China, Hugo Siles, Ambassador of Bolivia to China, and Zhang Li, president of China Center for Information Industry Development.


Xie Shaofeng said that China is willing to always uphold the concept of openness and cooperation, encourage and support practical cooperation in the industrial field between China and Latin America, and hopes to establish a regular dialogue mechanism in the industrial field between China and Latin America; deepen major project cooperation in frontier fields such as artificial intelligence, digital economy and new energy; adhere to openness and win-win, and promote the establishment of an interconnected, stable and unobstructed industrial chain and supply chain.


During the seminar, the "Joint Initiative of the High-level Seminar on China-Latin America Industrial Cooperation" was released, proposing to jointly explore a new industrialization path that suits the characteristics of China and Latin America, work together to build a more equal, inclusive and constructive industrial chain and supply chain partnership between China and Latin America, encourage and promote various forms of exchanges and cooperation and joint innovation among enterprises of the two sides, call for the establishment of a China-Latin America industrial cooperation dialogue and exchange mechanism, and encourage multiple entities from the industry, academia and research in Latin America and the Caribbean to join the Global Development Initiative's New Industrial Revolution Partnership Network.


The representatives of the Latin American and Caribbean countries' diplomatic envoys and government officials attending the event highly praised the holding of the High-level Seminar on Industrial Cooperation between China and Latin America and the Caribbean. They unanimously expressed that the cooperation potential between China and Latin America is huge. They hope to enhance communication and exchanges with China, deepen cooperation and move forward hand in hand in fields such as aerospace, renewable energy, green manufacturing, digital economy and mineral resources, and promote the coordinated development of industries between China and Latin America.


The symposium was hosted by the China Electronics Information Development Research Institute. About 100 people attended the symposium, including representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic envoys of Latin American and Caribbean countries in China and their industrial departments, leading enterprises in the industrial field from China and Latin America, as well as the heads of business associations, alliance members and experts and scholars.
